"Fading Flag" is an ongoing, accidental project on appearances and use of the American flag in a time of national crisis. The flag, as a symbol of a nation-state, is used in representations of patriotism as well as protest. A flag and its context, however tattered or intact, can also be suggestive of cultural moments and individual perspectives. Some of these are more careful, planned photographs, while others are from political protests or observations on the streets.
