The Queer Liberation March, organized by the Reclaim Pride Coalition and dedicated as a "people's march…[to] honor the powerful legacy of the Stonewall Rebellion by highlighting the most marginalized members of our community," was orchestrated as a politically engaged alternative to New York's Pride march. The peaceful, impactful march began on 7th Avenue, just south of Christopher Street, and proceeded to a rally on the Great Lawn, in Central Park. Performances by John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask, Betty, and others, along with an impassioned address by Larry Kramer, writer and co-founder of ACT-UP, marked a day of celebration, solidarity, and political activism.
